Andrea Joy, known as Miss Andrea, is a graduate of the BA(Hons) Musical Theatre degree course in LASALLE, College of the Arts. She was awarded the prestigious Future Leaders Scholarship for her dedication and excellence as an artist. A few of her most notable roles while pursuing her education include the lead role Amneris in AIDA the musical (Dir. Joe Barros), and Senator Fipp in Urinetown the musical (Dir. George Torbay).
Upon graduating in 2019 with Honors Degree in Musical Theatre, Andrea delved straight into the professional theatre world with her first ensemble role in an original play titled La Mariposa Borracha (Dir. Alvin Chiam) and the meaningful titular role Fatimah in Esplanade’s Fatimah and Her Magic Socks (Dir. Daniel Jenkins). Andrea was handpicked to be a storyteller for Esplanade’s RED DOT August ‘Stories to Celebrate’ 2019 and the International Storytelling STORYFEST Festival Singapore 2018.
Her versatility and previous experiences in the media industry has also opened many doors for her, landing her opportunities in numerous shows such as Mediacorp’s Zero Calling, Code of Law, Rojak, a telemovie titled RISE, and Viddsee’s Soulfood episode. Her commercial credits also include McDonald’s, Sentosa, Singapore’s Public Utilities Board (PUB – Singapore’s National Water Agency), and even for Marina Bay Sands. As a versatile performer, she continues to shine in her career over numerous platforms.
Her work goes beyond just performing, with her belief that the next generation should have the opportunity to experience the performing arts. She has spent over 3 years as an educator for Kindermusik With Love Singapore focusing on Music & Movement and has taught ballet and jazz for a local dance school here in Singapore. On top of that, Andrea has worked closely with The Storytelling Centre as one of their Young Storytellers for children.
Ultimately, Miss Andrea aspires to spark the same love for the arts in everyone she meets. Believing that children deserve a chance to experience the wonders of expression, movement, and creative play with their endless imagination. She is thrilled to be a part of DATD and bringing her classes to life!
